Re: RUGER M77 HAWKEYE 275 RIGBY

I looked at one in the gunshop the other day. You guys say what you want, but I thought it was pretty sweet, and I thought the 275 Rigby marking added some cool factor to it. And, I liked the fact that it had iron sights...those seem to be tought to come by on a bolt these days. Also, the one in the...

Is it just me or does the fore end look suspiciously like it is off of a model 12? I'm no Winchester expert, but that just doesn't look right and the seller didn't fess up to it either....

Re: The Pacific Northwest

Thanks for the input, guys. If I were to ever make the move, western Oregon or Washington is where I would want to be, so it sounds like that may be best left a day dream. I know north Idaho does have some mills and logging activity, but it just doesn't quite have the appeal to me that the coastal r...

The Pacific Northwest

Does anybody here live in Oregon or Washington? I'm a forester by trade. So far I have worked at a couple of paper mills in the south and at times I think I would really enjoy a change of pace and finding a job with a mill in the PNW and moving out there. I'm single, so moving isn't really a hard th...

Winchester 86 in 40-82 Deal or No?

I passed up a Winchester 86 in 40-82 today. It was a straight grip, full octagon barrel and full length magazine. No finish left, but did have rust spots. No pitting, however. Wood was in good shape, and it does not appear to have been bubba'd in any way. The problem in my mind was that the barrel w...

Re: Winchester's online catalog shows Model 94 in 25-35 and.

I'd been looking periodically to see if they decided to bring back the 25-35 like they did in '06. They've offered the 38-55 for a while now. Thanks for the heads up, may have to get one. Say what you will, but that Winchester has one thing the Uberti never will.....a Winchester roll mark! Which to ...

Well, there's another chapter to this story lol I shot a magazine full through the 740. It functioned fine, but I was in a hurry and just wanted to check function so I don't know about it's accuracy. But on the way home yesterday, I saw a sign advertising a gun show was in town.....so I went today. ...

Follow up to the Iron Sight Thread.....

I traded the mossberg nearly straight accross for a Remington 740 30-06. A model which I know has it's own issues, but the frame rails appear to be in good shape, so we'll see when I get to shoot it. BUT, it does have open sights at least lol. And even if the rifle turns out to be a turd, it came wi...

Putting Iron Sights on....

I've got a Mossberg ATR 30-06 that doesn't have iron sights on it, and I much prefer them over a scope. Has anybody ever had them added to a rifle? I'm assuming it should be a fairly easy/inexpensive task for a gunsmith, right?

I went in a local toy store today and spotted a big bore 94 in .375 that looked to be in pretty good shape overall, except that it had a side mount scope. It didn't appear to be an xtr. POLITICS - Gunownership in Alabama

http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008807210314 I live in Alabama, so it doesn't surprise me that overall guns are well accepted, but I cannot understand why 77% of people favor banning the private ownership of fully auto weapons. Re: New B 1886 With box

What is all this short throat business? I had always been led to believe that the reason the modern Browning could be rechambered to things like 50-110 and the Marlin couldn't is that the Browning 86 has a longer chamber than other 45-70s? Maybe I got confused or something.

Probably a coon. I personally would use either a 220 conibear or the hava hart as mentioned. A third possibiliy would be a small foothold trap. However, if you choose to go any of these routes set the foothold and coni's so they aren't a threat to domestic animals.
