Looks good. I got mine last Friday, mounted a Vortex Viper and spent a few days getting the CZ BROWN CRUD out of the barrel. I had hoped to get her sighted in and a group or 2 by now, maybe tomorrow. Thanks for your thoughts. I am looking at a very nice condition 1894 Winchester that has had a rear peep site added to the action, which means it has 2 holes in the side of the action. Wood is very nice, and it is a takedown model with full octagon barrel in very nice original condition with good blueing. I wonder what deval...

Good post I have a sewer bore 1873, and am considering relining it. In the meantime, I just put $ in the mail for a 1894 Marlin 32-20 that is supposed to have a good bore and shoot well. The 73 using graphite ammo that came with the gun put 2 in 1/2" offhand, leaning on the fence at 25 yards in...

Thank you very much. Yes, it is a chaparral, and I found this from searching that name: The 1876 is chambered for three of the original rifle’s cartridges: the .45-75, the .45-60, and the .40-60 WCF cartridges. The rifle that I was expecting to arrive was a .45-60, so I had prepared cartridge cases ...

Sounds like I could get into this.....Ruger #3 45-70.... but it is scoped.
Is there a Quigley competiton like CASS or other nationwide events? Our local range has a 1000 yard range I have seen 4-8k guns shoot prone at, maybe I should see what else they have.
Thanks

I am interested to see what the 357 cartridge guys can get using a deer bullet, ie 180 or 200 grain slug. I suspect 158 grain pistol bullets wouldn't perform well for pigs, but suspect many have succumed to a 357 pistol. One of the poorest choice of caliber for anything over 50 yards to my thinking....

I would personally go 35 caliber, but only if you reload for the above stated reasons. Curious why the factory wouldn't build a short barreled 35 remington. I located and handled an 1873 winchester today, looks like it probably had a coat of varnish added many moons ago, and it has surface specks that you can see and feel, but it is on top of a shiny blue on the action and barrel, action seems pretty tight, safety works and overall a decent shooter.
