Re: Say hello to my kinda-sorta little friend.

I think I'd wear ear plugs and muffs with that. The AR pistols in 223/5.56 are so LOUD that's why I went with 300 Blk. More like a 38 Special sound level, or with a suppressor, can be like a 22 LR rifle. Without the buffer where do you get the spring power to return the bolt? It has a very differen...

The favorite vehicle I've owned is my John Deere 2520 4wd tractor.

Second favorite was my John Deere 650 bulldozer with 3-way 8 ft blade.

Third was my Chevy 2500 4wd truck.

Fourth (I've not ever owned) would be a 1969 or so Shelby Mustang Mk-I

If you are new to firearms, I would HANDS DOWN recommend a Henry levergun in 22 LR. It will be a family heritage and even if you don't (which would be strange) wind up loving it, will always maintain great resale value (most leverguns do). It will be relatively quiet, inexpensive to shoot, easy to p...

Just get a levergun; that's all you need. Maybe a 44 Mag or 357 Mag since that's a universally useful and available cartridge. Then a revolver to match so you have a 'pair'. Then get a 22 LR levergun, so your kids can practice, or you can introduce new people to shooting without the intimidating noi...

From a purely 'physics' standpoint, you have a given amount of chemical energy, which is turned into pressure via chemical reaction, and 'heat' is one aspect/byproduct of that. I would think it would vary greatly with the type of cartridge (bottleneck vs fairly straight), lockup (a BLR is really closer to a 'bolt action' lockup-wise), and loads used (more brass stretch). Also if you segregate your brass per gun, it should less of a problem. Having said that, my only collet...
