So true Joe, about the size up close.

A couple of great books: B-17 Fortress B-29 Superfortress at war by Roger A Freeman and David A anderton.

B17 Flying Fortress Claims to fame, its out of print now but I found my copy on ebay. It's a fantastic book.

Awesome pics! Went to the Confederate Air Force museum in midland Texas on our family trip over there in '97. She looks great in the flesh with that polished aluminium. Sat in the cockpit of 'FIFI' too, at the time the worlds only flying B-29 superfortress.

Thanks for the all the kind words fellas  edsguns, I am not very good at judging weight but a mature sambar hind weighs around 150 odd kgs or 330 pounds and she was a average sized hind. Thanks guys. Funny you should say that Tycer, this was the easiest carry out ever. The car was 330 meters away! It was way too easy. I staretd hunting at 11:00am and got her at 12:30pm.

Whereas my stag in 2007, well lets just say I shot him in the deepest darkest gully away from everywhere...

444 marlins first blood, sambar deer

Gday everyone. Went away on a short hunt on the weekend with 3 mates. Went chasing the elusive sambar deer once again in Eastern Victoria. This was the second time I have hunted with the 444. It was a wet and cold weekend, the best type for hunting. I had success taking my second deer, a sambar hind...

Yeah I suppose we have a few nasties! I do worry about the wriggle sticks when hunting sambar during the warmer months. Ive only seen about half a dozen tiger snakes out sambar stalking. Seen a couple of red bellied blacks and taipans. I just watch where I put my feet and hope for the best ...

I can't wait for this to come out, as alot of it was filmed about 15 minutes from where I live. Yep, in Melbourne Australia.

They used alot of our older areas such as Carlton in scenes and also our very own Flinders Street Train station.

Hopefully it will be as great as Band of Brothers..
