They say that the 1911 is a little weaker than the 1931 model. But there is no reason not to use the GP11 ammo as many swiss target shooters do.

I get the chance to buy a new USFA 1873 5 1/2" 44/40 dual chambering 44 Special. Can anyone give some input? What about the bore difference of the 44 WCF (0.427) to 44 Special (.430). Thanks.

Rjf415. You made the right decision. Stay with the GP 100. Good you have some friends with Blackhawk Rugers so you could try the gun before you bought it.
As OS wrote, it's easier to get good groups with a DA than with a SA revolver.
