I heard the story years ago that when someone was visiting Finland, they asked why Finns poured oil on their flower beds. The answer? To keep their rifles from rusting.

A friend who knew I had lived in Mozambique posted a message to me about the fighting going on north of where I lived. One of the radical Islamic groups attacked the town of Macomia, killing people and destroying property. I looked at the area on Google Earth, then tracked on down to Pemba where I l...

I don't know for sure how many companies in the US produce nitrocellulose but I found at least 10 that do without looking too hard. Apparently Filo Chemical is a leading supplier of nitrocellulose.

What you practice becomes what you are good at. When I shot Cowboy Action I always shot the left gun with the left hand and the right gun with the right hand. Part of that was conditioning myself to shoot well with the left hand so that in a situation that went bad and my right hand was injured/nono...

Re: LUBRICATING JACKETED BULLETS
Just a thought. Would the increase in velocity be accompanied with a decrease in pressures, or is max pressure occuring before the bullet even leaves the cylinder? LUBRICATING JACKETED BULLETS
All bullets need lubrication, some more than others. I know it is commonly taken that jacketed bullets do not need lube. If that were the case however we would not use oil in the bearings on our cars. Fire a few thousand jacketed bullets through your barrel and watch it turn copper-colored in the ri...

The only issue I see is if the follower is dropped it can set off the cartridges in the magazine tube. Ian on Forgotten Weapons had one such experience and was injured .. though not seriously ... by it.

The only reliable way to tell pressures is have the loads tested in a pressure barrel. While it is certainly not something I am interested in, these days I hate to "pooh pooh" anyone who is venturing into the firearms field with something new. And if marketed, it will attract some. Whether that's enough to make it viable or not will remain to be seen.

I always shot every sixgun I got a lot. I put hundreds of rounds through them, sometimes many more than that, before I decided to do anything with them.
