I hate those pictures also, Hobie .. and I have a hard time looking at them. I tend to look away. Which is exactly why I chose them for today. If we start looking away it becomes too easy.

A friend near us has a Rodeo grounds and their Church uses it for various competitions for the Church .. barrel racing, roping, etc. They have a Cowboy Church meeting monthly or so there also.

As a kid I killed lots of rabbits, cats, dogs, squirrels and so with 38 Special wadcutter handloads. They worked just fine.

The 170 gr. jacketed bullet data can be used. I have run them a lot faster than 1700 with good results. If you are casting your own be sure they are fairly hard and that you have an excellent lube. Miller is correct. During our Safari in South Africa in June one of the members, Al DiPrima, used a Marlin in the new .308 Marlin to take some of the game. It worked quite well.
